Image 1 of 1
I took this picture on a very cold morning of January, from the bank of the Po River near to Carignano in Piedmont, Italy. I was wandering along the bank looking for something interesting to be included in the foreground, and I was immediately attracted by the frost on that chair. I realized that the chair, the frost, together with the two pole supports worked perfectly as a totally unexpected, somewhat striking foreground for the peaceful scene around. And all the elements together were telling the story of a fisherman that didn't go to fish that morning, as it was too cold..I set the camera and tripod on place and then just waited for the sky to break up. I was particularly lucky to have some direct sunlight hitting for a few moments the chair, thus producing that beautiful glow on the frost.
